FAQ

Frequently Asked Property Maintenance Questions

  • Why Should I Have a Company Sweep Parking Areas and Streets?

It is for the apparent aesthetic values of curb appeal and the "look" of a well-maintained property. In addition, a regularly scheduled maintenance program can prolong the life of the pavement and any pavement striping, thereby delaying costly resurfacing expenses.

  • Are There Different Methods of Sweeping?

Yes. Traditional broom sweeping is one option. Another less-abrasive method is an air sweeper. This machine has "gutter brooms" that provide a clean curb line and a sweeping action that is gentler on the pavement. This machine also produces much less dust during operation and picks up small materials that can become airborne.

  • How Often Should a Property Be Swept?

The frequency will vary depending on the traffic, weather, etc. It can be once annually, typically when the snow piles melt, or daily for customers with heavy traffic. We will evaluate and recommend a cleaning program for every customer. The frequency of cleanings can be adjusted at any time.

  • Do I Need to Make Any Preparations Before the Sweeping?

No. However, you should schedule any landscaping maintenance work before the sweeping is scheduled.

  • Can Sweeping Extend the Life Expectancy of the Pavement?

Yes. Sand, rock, and debris act as abrasive. Removing them regularly assists in preventing potholes, cracking, and striping erosion. Resurfacing costs are tremendous! By sweeping outside the office and other buildings, inside floor maintenance can also be reduced by removing the street-based abrasive material.

  • When Do You Clean a Parking Lot?

Most sweeping is done during the overnight hours when the store is closed. Places that are open for 24 hours are scheduled when traffic is slowest.

  • Do You Sweep in the Winter Months?

Our Sweeping services operate year-round unless it snows. When the lot is cleared, we resume the scheduled cleaning program. Cleaning in the winter months will significantly reduce the amount of salt/sand tracked into a building.
